When clarity becomes your worst enemy 😱 (Elephant #6: The Procrastination Paradox)

Updated: Aug 19

Elephant inside a restaurant knocking over chairs and tables, representing the procrastination paradox in business decision-making.
Procrastination isn’t about laziness. It’s often about fear disguised as “I’ll get to it later.”

I still remember the looks on their faces.

Some of our Breakthrough Mastermind entrepreneurs sat there, completely shell-shocked after Ken Dewitt walked them through the EOS framework from “Traction.”

It was like watching someone hand them the exact roadmap they’d been desperately searching for... only to see them freeze in their tracks.

What I am about to say sounds paradoxical..

It was a moment when clarity could become their enemy.

Because suddenly, they could see EVERYTHING that needed fixing in their businesses. Every. Single. Thing.

And instead of feeling empowered, they felt overwhelmed. Sound familiar?

Welcome to the 6th installment of my “Elephants in the Room” series, where we tackle those uncomfortable business truths nobody wants to discuss.

This is Elephant #6: When procrastination hijacks your succession planning.

I’ve seen it happen countless times. The clearer the path forward becomes, the more we retreat into inaction. (I’m raising my hand too!)

Here’s the truth: Procrastination isn’t about laziness. It’s often about fear disguised as “I’ll get to it later.”

But in business and succession planning, “later” often becomes “too late.”

So how do we move past this paralysis? Here are three B+ steps you can take TODAY:

  1. Choose ONE thing. Just one element from that overwhelming framework. What’s the ONE action that would create the most momentum? (Hint: You could join one of our Breakthrough Masterminds!)

  2. Set a non-negotiable deadline. Deadlines drive decisions. Block 30 minutes on your calendar RIGHT NOW. Make sure your team knows about it.

  3. Find an accountability partner. Share your ONE thing and deadline with someone who’ll check in. (Hit reply and tell me yours – I read every email)

Your business deserves your decision, not your delay.

What’s your ONE thing? I’d love to know, hit reply to this email and tell me (I read every email).

Harry

P.S. If you’re struggling with succession planning overwhelm, remember the first step is always the hardest!
